I guess the doc was waiting until 16 weeks to officially call it. I have been carrying excess fluid for a while but he said you can't get an actual official AFI until 16 weeks. So he has dx'd me with polyhydramnios, put me on a medication called Indocin, and I am allowed NO sugar. I have no will power and never thought the day would come that I could ever COMPLETELY give up Dr. Pepper but looks like today is that day. 5 months with no sugar, it's gonna be hard but I can do for my little Vivian!

Re: So, I have Polyhydramnios
::lurking::
What was your AFI level? (I had polyhydraminos with my DD.)

I was just diagnosed two weeks ago with it (but am much farther along than you).
Mine's at 30.4 and we aren't doing any drugs or interventions. I just have to go in every few days for monitoring and if I have any issues breathing or if my water breaks I call them.
I'm sorry he told you to go off sugar... I have gestational diabetes along with this and frankly, the no sugar thing sounds suspicious. I mean, you don't want to eat refined carbs and straight white sugar but you do need complex carbs for brain and spine development. Did your dr recommend meeting with a nutritionist? Maybe they could help you develop a more realistic plan other than "no sugar for 5 months".
I'm shocked they called that polyhydraminos. Average / normal is between 5 and 25, and you're right in the middle of that.
I am currently at 13.8 (been at 19 and 15 the past two ultrasounds before that). They are super pleased with my levels.
With my daughter, when I actually had polyhydraminos, I was at 40.2.

And check out a website called PaleOMG . They have neat recipes for desserts that are without sugar. The sweet potato brownies are sooo good!
