Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Ferberizing :(

Started using the Ferber method last night.  Went much better than it is tonight.  Anyone else wait too long to help their child learn to self-soothe?  LO is 9 months and was still getting up 7 times a night!  But this is torture!

  • Yes, except I started last night 3, 5, 8.  Tonight was 5, 8, 10.  She fell asleep after the first 10 so I guess it wasn't that bad but at the time I wrote the post I was in tears and needed some support!

I didn't want to go a crying route but I have tried EVERYTHING since she started sleeping poorly at 4 months.  I finally accepted that it's not good for either of us to be up every 1-2 hours and she needs to learn that nighttime is for sleeping.  NOT FUN!

  • I agree - it is hard.  I try to think about the increased sleep he's getting.... also, I worked on a sewing project for him tonight when he was crying :)

  • Wrote too soon :(  Just woke up after 15 minutes of sleep... Yes, keeping busy is key.

  • We started at 10 months after going through some no cry solutions. It took a while and it was tough, but it paid off. Last night she slept 11hrs straight! She used to get up every hour or so to nurse, so huge progress for us!

Hang in there! Get a glass of wine and it will get better soon.

  • What no cry solutions worked for you?? My LO is 10 months now & we NEED to do something to help him sleep better! He starts out in his crib every night, but ends up with us because he is up to nurse at least every 1-2hrs (he has always been a comfort nurser.) We have tried music, white noise... I just don't know if I have it in me to let him cry it out.
