C-sections

binder

After my c-section I noticed they put a binder on me. I asked the nurses how long I was to wear it and they said 6 weeks. I take it off sometimes like for a shower and to wash it since I don't want it stinking from sweating and whatnot. Has anyone else gotten a binder?

Re: binder

  • You can wear it as long as you like.  And yes, take it off for shower and to wash.  I loved mine, but stopped wearing it at 5 weeks because summer came around and I was getting hot.

  • I'm sorry but what's a binder? How does it work? I never heard of one.

  • A BINDER IS FOR AFTER YOU HAVE BABY TO HELP YOUR BODY AND INSIDES GO BACK TO NORMAL. I THINK IT HELPS HOLD YOU "IN" AFTER A C-SECTION TOO. IM GETTING ONE WHEN I HAVE MY C-SECTION MONDAY 07/23/12. I THINK YOU CAN LOOK THEM UP ONLINE UNDER "POSTPARTUM" BINDERS??
  • I wore mine for a long time but I don't remember how long.  I actually ended up putting it in the washing machine.  I think I put it in a lingerie bag on gentle cycle and it held up.  You can also buy something similar called a belly bandit online for like $70 so I kept mine in case my new dr doesn't give me one.

I was told to wear it as needed for up to a month. I stopped after about 2 weeks? But even when I wore it, it was just a few hours a day.
