Baby Names

Boy name clicky poll

Which of these two names do you prefer? Last name has two syllables, begins with M.

We were set on Reed before we even became pregnant if we had a boy, but now we are second guessing if Reed/Reid is becoming too popular for our taste. Bennett is a family name. We like traditional, not often used names. Here are our finalists.

[Poll]
Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements
March 11, 2014 ovulated despite every doctors prognosis!!!
Oct 2014 hormones (FSH 48, Estradiol 89, HCG 1) not good, but heckuva lot better!

Nov. 16, 2015 FET of single adopted 5AA embryo - BFN

Re: Boy name clicky poll

  • I love Reed but am biased!( ds#1).  I think it gets mentioned on this board way more than is truly reflective of the overall popularity of the name. Even if you combined the spellings of the name, it would fall around 200. I guess it depends if that is too popular for you or not. We have only ever come across one other Reed at this point IRL.

It's funny you mention that because I brought that up with DH. I got nervous seeing it appear so much on this board, but I think it may not be as indicative of how popular it is all over. I've never actually met a Reed. Thanks for bringing up that point :)

  • I much prefer Reed over Duncan and my opinion is only partially clouded by the fact that DS2 is named Reid. I'm just not a fan of Duncan. In terms of popularity, I will say that there are more Reids in my social circle than Jacksons (DS1's name). This goes against the national trend, though. I can think of 5 Reids under the age of 5 off the top of my head, excluding DS. Reid Bennett is a great combo (I also love Bennett)!

Totally hadn't thought about that. Then again, maybe it's my pregnancy cravings that made the name appealing ;)
