When is a good time to wean from the paci? My lo still has her but I'm not sure when right time to get rid of it. We are soon to be traveling I don't know what we do with out the paci.m
We will be weaning between 18-24 months. I do not want her to have a paci in the 2s room at DC at all. She only gets it for sleeping and car rides now. If your LO has it all day I would begin a slow transition down to sleeping soon. As a Preschool/DC teacher I have seen first hand how much the paci prohibits from 2 and on. We haven't started her transition yet because I want her to have it for the plane ride (ear popping) on our trip in Sept. I also want her to understand a little better when I begin to take it away. As you take it away watch to be sure she doesn't begin sucking her thumb/fingers as this can become a greater issue all together!
I've been planning to start crib only soon, but haven't. DD is transitioning to one nap and fighting sleep a lot so she's pretty grumpy. At 2 I plan to take it away completely.
I'm not in a big hurry. We use it only for crib and car right now. He hands it to me when I open the car door to take him out, and he tosses it in his crib as soon as I take him out of the crib, so I think he understands pretty well. Probably will think about weaning it closer to 2, but for now, he's finally STTN and putting himself to sleep, so I'm fine with whatever helps.
