Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Suddenly not wanting solids.....

Hi everyone!  My LO is going to be 5 months old on Sundsy.  At 4 months, 1 week I started with rice cereal.....loved it!  Also introduced oatmeal and sweet potatoes, which were also a huge hit.  Now, about a week ago, he has started not wanting solids at all.  He is EBF and still nursing consistently, but whenever I try fruits, veggies or cereals, he doesn't want it.  Has anyone had this happen?  He has also been exhibiting some signs of teething (off and on).  Could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks!!!!

  • DS is the same way. Some days he'll want to eat, some days he won't. I just give it a couple tries and if he's not into it then I stop. Its just for practice right now anyway, I wouldn't worry.

  • Are you offering variety?  Babies can become tired of the same thing each day just like us. I would be sure to offer a nice variety of fruits/ veggies.  If he still is not interested I would not worry about it.  Let them decide if and how much they want to eat.  you could even try giving him a little of what you are eating as something different - he might like that more.

  • I think it definitely could be teething related. Babies want to nurse more when they're teething because it soothes their mouths to suck.
