So, DirecTV dropping MTV

Most of the channels dropped were ones I don't watch... However, I do watch Teen Mom.

Is there a reason why they (MTV) stopped showing full episodes online?  I can't watch last week's episode (but I did record it last week when MTV was still available)... are they trying to punish us DirecTV people?

They just had a comment on FB about if we have DirecTV we should switch...  I'm not that desperate just for one show... but just curious why they don't even have episodes online anymore.

  • I thought I heard that that was viacoms doing. They said until Directv makes a deal they would be pulling all internet content.

That sucks. Just another reason I'm glad we have Dish.

I'm sure Viacom will be coming after everyone...  I'm just glad my rates don't have to go up for channels I don't watch... even if I could add MTV back for extra $$, I wouldn't... That's the only show on there that I watch.

  • OP - I am pist.
    I need Gabba.
    I love Jon Stewart.
    I adore VH1 Classic.
The only reason we're keeping Direct TV is the NFL Sunday ticket. I don't live locally for my team, so I need to see games.
I didn't realize until today we lost Spike and MTV (don't really watch those much).
Does Dish offer better options? I mean, no Fresh Beat Band is fine, but dayum. I loved Comedy Central.

Agreed.  We used to have Direct and had so, so, so many issues.  This also isn't the first time they've dropped channels but it is on a much bigger scale than before.  I bet you Dish is offering some pretty good deals right now!

  • We had direct tv fir years for the Sunday ticket. We got fed up and decided it wasnt worth it. We have Fios now and do the Red Zone Channel. So much happier.

  • This will probably end up being an issue across all providers because Viacom sucks. When their contracts come up with other providers either your company will accept their deal and jack up the prices or they will play the whole "go ahead and drop us" game. Its total bullsh!t

I was so pissed when we moved away from Fios! They aren't available anywhere in my state. I called them just after we moved down here and asked where the closest coverage area so I could move again... true story!

I am sure it will all work out-it always has in the past (I can't remember losing any channels on DirecTV but I may just not have noticed).  Didn't this all just go down between Whatever AMC is and Dish?  That worked itself out right? I couldn't switch if I didn't get AMC!
