Did you or LO have a Sebaceous Cyst ?

DS has one on his face right beside his nose and it keeps getting bigger and turning like a blue/purple. The pedi said if it didn't go away that we would have to have it removed or drained so at this point it looks like we are going to have it taken off. Has anyone went through this that can give me any details? Or any kind of advice on it? I'm just clueless on it all and worried. TIA

DH had one removed on his forehead. It was pretty big because, like a typical man, it took a long time to get him to see the dermatologist. I'm not sure if its the same for a little one but they just numbed the spot, drained the cyst, and then removed the sac so it wouldn't refill. Then he had one stitch that he had to have removed a week later. He said he didn't feel the shot to numb it nor the removal itself. He doesn't even have a scar and he let a medical student (not even a resident) who was just shadowing the Dr do it (Why he decided this was a good idea is another story) 

Also, totally not the same thing as your LO but my mom had a dog that used to get them. The vet would always drain them but never removed the sac and they just kept coming back. If I were you and you end up needing to have it drained, make sure they remove the sac so it never is a problem for your LO again. It would be silly to put them through being held down more than once.

Thank you both! I will def. have them remove the sack. Just so nervous.
