crib

when we bought our crib we thought he was going to use....obviously that didn't happen.  the first few months he was in a bassinet and after that we found it easy to bedshare to make bf'ing easier. our little guy is almost 14months and we don't really see ourselves switching to the crib at all. i have used it as a playpen but he doesn't even like that anymore.  about a month ago i was pregnant but had a miscarriage, we were discussing our situation and dh and i had decided we were going to to buy a bigger bed and have a family bed. we are still going to buy a bigger bed but my question is  SHOULD WE SELL OUR CRIB? we paid $300 for it and it only takes up space and has no use in our house.  should we keep it just in case another child would like it? ( i really don't see a future child being in there).

Re: crib

  • I'd sell it to reclaim the space. You can buy whatever fits your needs in the future (co-sleeper, side car a crib, just all sleep together).

  • We barely used a crib with our first, but used one more often with our second. It was good to have a place for him to nap/sleep that wasn't our bed once he started being mobile. If you have the room to store it, I would hold on to it for the next one.

  • Our second baby did not like co-sleeping and has been in bassinet/crib since around her 2nd week when we realized she didn't like co-sleeping. She was also STTN at that point so there was no reason to co-sleep for my ease.

Not that it means you should keep your crib, just that we did have the experience of a baby who prefers the crib.
