Was not sure if you guys had heard this yet; I scrolled through and didn't see any mention. A Colorado mom was asked to leave her local pool when patrons complained about her breastfeeding. story and video are at this URL, sorry, I am not sure how to make clicky.

glad other mommies are staging a nurse in!
Re: kicked out for BF baby
What's particularly ridiculous about this, without knowing the ages of her older children, is that who was supposed to mind her children whilst she went somewhere private to nurse her infant?
It's possible her children were old enough to not need her constant attention, but a lot of swimming complexes expect parents/caregivers to actively supervise their own children.
I really don't understand while people are upset at their children seeing a woman breastfeeding. Let's imagine she had her entire breast exposed, and the baby unlatched so her nipple was also visible. So what?
If my daughter saw a woman BF (and she could no longer remember seeing me BF younger siblings) then I'd just explain that the baby was having its milk. The end.

I didn't read the article, but you said it perfectly.

I cannot believe this still happens. What I find interesting is that I still occasionally nurse my almost 20 month old in public and no one has ever so much as given me a funny look.

The same thing happened locally about a year ago.
Fortunately the mom was with a LLL leader who took it upon herself to contact the city (it was a city facility) and it led to (re) education of the staff, "breastfeeding welcome" stickers, and an apology.
Sometimes I wish someone would say something to me just so I could tell them off.

Haha! This is me, too! I have so many retorts lined up, and I've never gotten anything other than supportive comments while nursing in public.

This. Why do people act like there's something so complicated to "explain" about BFing? Tell the kids she is feeding her baby. Pretty simple.
Even if her children were older, say 10+, it's still risky to leave them unattended near a pool. There's a reason lifeguards have jobs, even adults can drown.
And for crying out loud, it's a pool - where everyone is presumably in swim suits. Lots of boob-skin is showing at a pool.

The "my children shouldn't see such things" argument really gets me. How sad that those children are already taught that such a natural and healthy thing is dirty. Our puritanical society is so f-ed.
I know. Maybe they're scared their kids will realise breasts aren't just for porn.
