At almost 7 months we still haven't really set LO's bedtime routine.
If you do the same routine every night, what do you do?
I would really like to get a routine down pat so that when I start my student teaching in the fall I will have more of a routine each night with LO. Does your routine seem to work, do they understand that it's time for bed and not play after?
Thanks ladies!
Re: Bedtime Routine
Bath (every other night)
Bottle
Play for a bit
Take him to his room, change diaper, get into PJ's
Give him a kiss, turn on the Seahorse, lay him down
He puts himself to sleep in about 10 minutes
Most nights it starts with a bath, then jammies, bottle, daddy kisses and bed.
On the night's he's not completely exhausted and doesn't fall asleep right away he'll play by himself in his crib and then let out a couple of yells for us to come help him find his paci and he'll fall asleep then.
We do the same routine every night. Bath, lotion, jammies, two books, bottle from DH and then Bed.
ETA: He definitely knows it's bedtime. He cries the second we get out of the bath and he gets onto the changing table for jammies. He stops after he's all dressed and it's more of a moaning NO NO NO SLEEP!!!!
Our nighttime routine is:
5:30 solids, then bath, then jammies/playtime on the floor. At 6ish or 6:15 we do a bottle and then in the crib. We use the seahorse only at bedtime (not during the day or night wakeups) while I'm giving him his bottle. He is usually awake when I put him in the crib and he falls asleep about 10 minutes later.
ETA: So glad to see I'm not the only one who does a bottle right before bed!

Dream of a better world...where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.
We get home around 5 from daycare, then she gets dinner (solids) sometime between then and 5:30. After dinner we play for a bit and then around 6/6:15 she gets a bath if it's bath night. Then it's diaper, PJs/sleepsack, nurse, crib.
She's usually in her crib and asleep around 6:30/6:45 and she sleeps until about 6:30 the next morning.
ETA: she gets a pacifier after she nurses and we have a sleep sheep that goes on and the seahorse (lately I've had to leave the seahorse out of the crib though because all she wants to do is play with it)

He knows this all means bed time and goes down really well. Staying asleep for longer than 2 hours in his crib is another story entirely!

Target 6pm bathtime, get into PJ's, give bottle (he gets solids & bottle second to last meal of day) and last few ounces are always in his room with curtains closed and fan on and dogs out (so he's not distracted), then strait into the crib. He's usually out pretty quick. Lately he's been fussy and it takes longer for him to crash out but not sure if that is the heat or maybe teething? We used to use the aquarium baby einstein soother which was awesome but it ran out of batteries and he fell asleep without is so now we stopped using that as a sleep tool. We turn on a floor fan for cooler air and white noise. Soon I'd like to add reading a book to the routine but he still seems too young to concentrate on that for long.
Get home from daycare around 545, nebulizer treatment while we sing to him, solid food, bath if it's bath night, bottle...
Then we go into his room, turn on instrumental music, get into PJs and sleep sack, hold him/sway while standing/kisses, put him in crib, turn on white noise and give him his lovey.
He's almost always out within 10-15 minutes.
We usually get home around 5:15. Solid food at 5:30. Playtime and then a bath around 6:30 if it's a bath night, lotion and PJ's. We usually do floor play and let him play for a few mintues in his jumperoo (since it wears him out..lol) and then into his room for his sleep sack. We trade off on bedtime so one of us feeds him a bottle while we listen to the soother in his crib. Sometimes he falls asleep after the bottle right away and sometimes he is wide awake. Either way we put him down in his crib after the bottle. If he is awake he will usually fussy for a few minutes and then will play with his soother until he falls alseep. He is usually out within 10 mins.
Dog park 5:30-6:30 (or later if it's not bath night)
Bath (every other night)
Jammies
Bottle
Daddy kisses
Lay in crib with seahorse (this used to put her to sleep, but hasn't lately)
Rock to sleep when she starts fussing after seahorse shuts off.
I'm hoping that by still doing the seahorse, she will eventually fall asleep on her own like she used to.
