How to drop a NAP but not a feeding???

DS is very very routined.. (eat, play, sleep) but he is likely dropping down to 2 naps these days. He gets 5 bottles everyday, which he needs. I give him a bottle right after a nap......... so my ? is how di I go about maintaining his amt of feedings if I need to alter up his nap times? Ugh.

  • Try giving the usual pre-nap bottle, but then put him back to playing instead of down for a nap. Then, offer the next feeding at the usual time he would have been waking up from the nap. If he's hungry, he'll take it. If not, wait 2 or 30 mins and try again. His appetite will guide you into a new routine.

  • Does he still need 5 feedings?  I think 7 months or so was when the nurse recommended to me that we drop to 4 feedings (breakfast, lunch, dinner, bed).

  • Hmmm.. I just assumed he still needed the 5 bottles. I mean, his solids aren't providing any sustenance really (just for practice still)... perhaps I'll call the pedi and see what they say
  • Yes, my thought is the same as a PP.  Do you need 5 feedings?  We did 4 feedings of 8 ounces each.  Morning, after 1st nap (lunch), before 2nd nap(early evening), and after dinner (late evening, which is about 30 minutes before bedtime).
