I'm getting excited that in two more appointments I will be scheduling my RCS! However, I also have that fear that I'm sure every mother has...what if something happens to me? So I'm just curious to hear some successful repeat c-sections so that my anxiety and fear will calm down.
Re: Successful RCS?
I think we all have that fear. I always remind myself that everything we do, all day long carries some risk. I drive in my car, I fly on planes, I cross the road - all carry just as much risk as my RCS did/will!
As for the successful RCS story - I had a really great RCS with DD. My first was scheduled and I felt like it went really smoothly, and the 2nd was even easier. I was a little more panicky going into the OR because of the same fears you're having, but I mentioned that to the anesthesiologist and was given something that calmed me down a bit - so don't be afraid to ask for help! The recovery was quick and easy and I was back home caring for both of my babies before I knew it. Good luck, you'll do great!

What did you do to get your scar fixed? Did you ask your doctor about it beforehand? Mine's a little thicker than I'd like it to be, but I'm like my mother where we don't scar very easily and it's like a keloid. I'd like for my doctor to be able to help mine look a little bit better.
I told my doctor I hated my scar (I had a keloid too) so she told me as part of the surgery she would fix it. She cut out the old scar and then she closed it with a special plastic surgery technique even though she is an OB. My closing took forever but it was worth it. She used a permanent suture (which I had never heard of before and my brother who is an OB said is almost never used) that she took out the day I was discharged from the hospital. All of my post partum nurses thought it was really weird to see an incision with a permanent suture but when she took it out my scar literally looked like just a light line. I'm now almost 7 weeks pp and it looks fantastic.
I just kind of got lucky with a doctor that had a great technique and liked doing it, but she says she never does it unless someone asks because it takes so much longer so be sure to ask your doctor.
