We are set on naming our son Jackson/ Jaxson. Our dilemma is which spelling to go with. DH and I have agreed that we don't really want his nickname to be Jack, we prefer Jax. I think I prefer the more traditional spelling of Jackson, but think that will lead to his nickname being Jack. Or do you think that if we call him Jax at home, when he starts school and stuff Jax will stick and he won't be called Jack?

I think Jackson is a nicer spelling.
There's probably no way to know what will happen in school; they won't really know you call him Jax at home unless he tells them and reminds them. Also, he may like Jack better as a NN once he's in school and old enough to have an opinion, who knows!

Well, let's see...one is completely misspelled. If that's the look you're going for, (and the name would then be pronounced Jacks-son), then go for it.
Oh and he's going to be teased to no end..."hahaha---he JAX OFF all the time!!!"
This is exactly what I was thinking.
Sure, I WAS reaching. Brina = Pena = Pen1s. It's the first thing that came to mind and took me all of 5 seconds to think of it. That's precisely my point. Kids are mean and will find a way to tease any child's name if they so desire. Like my BFF growing up was named Robin and we called her Bean Pole b/c "bin" sounds a teeny bit like "bean."
ETA: Oh, and FWIW, I don't doubt that Jax could be interchanged with "jacks off." But no more so than any boy named Jack and that's been a plenty popular name for generations. The possibility wouldn't be enough to convince me to go with another name.
Look I didn't personally attack your kid's name. I think you were out of line with this, like you're just trying to get back at me for saying something about the name "Jax." I wasn't talking about YOUR son. I was speaking to the OP whose baby isn't born yet.
Want to say something about my other daughter's name rhyming with "molest?"
I'm sincerely sorry if you feel like I attacked you. That really wasn't my intention. I was just trying to prove a point. Maybe I went too far. I do think your original comment that "he'll be teased to no end" was obnoxious, though. If you would've said "he MIGHT be teased," I wouldn't have felt as defensive. But, no, you made it sound like teasing was an absolute. That's a pretty ridiculous and bold statement.

NICE EDIT. You should've stuck with your original apology. Again, I wasn't even talking to you.
There have been plenty of people that have told posters that if their kids initials spell "BJ", they're going to be teased. Don't see how that's any different. You're just taking offense at something that wasn't even directed at you. In this post alone, there are people who have said what a terrible name it is, but for some reason you pick on MY post? I wasn't even the first to make the "jax off" reference. I'm sorry the semantics of my assessment is what is offending you. Talk about ridiculous.
This
This. My nephew's name is Jackson and we call him Jack. But if you call your son Jax I'm sure it will stick.
Wow I did not expect this to cause such a controversy. I appreciate everyone's reponse. I knew prior to writing this post that Jackson was not a popular name on this board. This post was not going to change my name choose no matter what anyone said. I love the name and honestly don't know anyone who has named their child Jackson.
