Confused about Tucks

I see that ppl suggest using Tucks pads after delivery. I don't quite understand them, are they for your butt? for hemorrhoids? Does everyone get them? Are they also for your vagina? and even if you tear and have an open/healing wound? I have also read about soaking pads in witch hazel and freezing them, dont they melt then is your pad juicy? Can someone please explain to me

Re: Confused about Tucks

  • I'm at a total loss on both of these topics as well! I thought tuck pads were those blue and white square pads that look like doggy training pads. I just assumed people got them so they didn't leak onto their bedding at home. I haven't researched (out of sight out of mind) so I'm interested to find out what they really are.

  • Tucks pads are pre-moistened pads, like the kind you use to clean your face.  They are pre-moistened with witch hazel.  They are normally used to wipe when you have hemorrhoids, but post partum moms use them for relief of their va-jay-jay's after birth.

I found this blog that explains the best way to use them and am totally doing this post delivery!

  • Not everyone gets hemorrhoids, but many do.  And for me it was more about my tear (or if you have an episiotomy) - both the swelling and the stitches.  It helps soothe the pain.  I laid the pads (which looked more like wipes compared to what I see online), along the whole pad....all along the perineum.

And you're going to be changing your pad often.  The ice will just melt obviously, and it'll eventually be body temp.  The pad will absorb it.  The ice pads won't make it any worse than what your blood will, from what I can remember?  It was heaven, btw. lol  I also LOVED Dermoplast (blue lid)....great for stitches, even c-sections I've heard.

You're thinking of chuck pads, hehe. What they use a lot in the hospital or in nursing homes that are large and just cover an area if you're changing a diaper, or want to keep an area clean :)

  • i used them for the first 2-3 days but found them kind of hard to keep in place.  I was wearing mesh undies, a huge pad, an ice pack on top of that, and tucks on top of the ice pad.  Definitely offers some relief for a tear!  I have a 2nd degree but a week later feel great.

  • I tried the tucks last time, but really find them to be annoying. I got this to use this time, and am actually excited to use it ( crazy I know).

I loved the Tucks pads! I basically put them on the big pads like pepperoni on a pizza and when I sat down, instant relief! I already have them packed for the hospital.

YEP! That's what I did as well, sometimes I would put 3 on the pad.  My hospital provides them for me, as well as a peri bottle and dermaplast.  Both of those are important as well, you don't want to whip AT all after you deliver so to keep it clean you use warm water with the peri bottle, and the dermaplast helps keep it bacteria free + pain relief.

  • I got a coupon this weekend and they are on sale so I was going to get some this week but I also was at a lost for how exactly to best use them.  I figured they would provide some relief down there.   SO was looking at my coupons yesterday and ask me what Tucks were I just gave him they are feminine products I need for after the baby.   I had no idea what the heck to tell him.  LOL

Those blue and white pads used in hospitals, etc to protect bedding are "Chucks", not Tucks.
