I'm going to have to take some pictures of our little man's room for this one too. We're not done yet, but it is coming along! I'm going for a eclectic theme with lots of colors. I found a print of an old, old map of Russia which we framed for his room too! We're putting him right in a twin bed (well, he'll probably start out in our bed but move there- we'll play that by ear) and using a quilt my sister made me when she was 16. My Dad also gave me the kid-sized rocking chair he bought for me when I was a baby! So fun.
I'll get pictures up soon!
What are you planning for your child's nursery or bedroom? Pictures? Even pictures of bedding or wall color etc? Any special items going in there?

Re: Nursery or bedroom plans? Pics? Themes? Share with me!
We didn't do anything special for DD's nursery/room in our old house. This house is a different story.
I painted it a pale, pale pink and filled it with pandas. It's a mascot for the STTTC group, which I used to moderate. I just got some gray drapes with a bamboo print to go with it. Her playroom is a pale gray with a Snoopy theme
Right now the room is a guest/storage. I just can't make a nursery until a baby comes home...it would be too hard day by day seeing it...BUT I have dreamed and browsed on pinterest.
Since we have no clue boy or girl I am thinking black and white chair/drapes/bedding with pops of teal and light yellow. *sigh* I can't wait!
Jillian- love the map idea. It would be fun to take old Russian books or posters to cover a lamps shade and a frame.
For us, I've made the deliberate choice to have them share a room. I didn't growing up and I think it's great to have them share. So, we started w/DD1's pretty nursery in a soft yellow and sage green. I'd purchased Wendy Bellissimo Petit Safari bedding off of Ebay early in our adoption process. It's very sublte and has embroidered "real" animals (vs characters). We'd gone to Africa for our honeymoon so safari animals mean something to us, We used some of our own photography as well as an old photo DH had in his room growing up of elephants drinking in a river. I made bunting out of flash cards, and a fun burlap book rack on the wall.
When DD2 came along, I bought a mini-crib (hello... I love mini cribs... they are great). So, her crib came in, I added some bunting for her. And all is set.
The room also has a twin bed (which is super convenient) and a rocking chair. It's a small room but we really maximized space.
Getting started on the nursery as soon as possible was really important to me... it just made me feel so hopeful that we will become parents through adoption no matter how long it takes. We have a gender neutral nursery... three walls are painted a sage green and one is chocolate brown. We have a monkey theme that was mostly DH's idea, but once we started decorating, I fell in love!
There are a few pictures on our Facebook adoption page... There are some more things in there, now, but I haven't updated the photos yet...

I so needed to read all of this today!! It's like you ladies always have perfect timing!! :-)
I am planning to start painting the now guest room this week, and decorate it for LO #2. I know if I wait till after placement, it wont happen. I tried waiting till post baby with DS since we didnt know the gender, and once he came, he had some minor health issues and we were way too busy. This is my first real nursery decorating experience, so I'm super excited!
Im shooting for gender neutral. The paint is a Mythic Paint color called On Cloud Nine and its a very pale aqua. I have a mod dot espresso and cream bedding set and an antique rocker that my grandmother bought when my mom was born, that I am having reupholstered in cream colored fabric. Im usung DS's old crib, which is a dark wood like the rocker. I can't wait to see how it looks IRL!!
Anyway, I'm so glad somebody brought this up! I love all of your ideas!!

That link will take you to a post I wrote about DD's nursery. It's more eclectic. I like owls, so there's a few of those in the room. We used bright pink, orange, green, and a touch of blue. Very neutral wall - beige - and rug - cream.
Her crib turned into a full size bed which she uses now. Her bedding is this one from Pottery Barn Kids:
Special items -- collage owls and an felt owl that hangs down from her window, my teddy bear from when I was little, framed pictures of her with us and with her birthmom and birthgrandparents. Sock monkey night light just because it's cute! An angel music box that was my grandma's. And about 10 quilts that we made by lots of people that love her

Tell me more about this mini crib. If we ever adopt or have a baby someday I'd love to room share but a regular crib would be a tight fit. Where did you get it? how long can they fit in it?

Welllll DS is still in his crib, in what I'll call the "baby room," which isn't decorated at all.
But! The kiddo room is painted a jungle theme. It's pretty fun in there - it'll be fun to use it, too!

After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program.

Come home, baby A!
I wanted to do bunk beds in a foster room, but a lot of states (I believe mine included) are very strict on bunk beds.
We do not have our room done at all yet (but we are very early in the process!) I want to do two of the BSF Baby Austin Crib/Changer combos in the room. I don't really know where to go from there. Since we will take any age or gender, I think I will just stock up on different beddings in all styles and colors, and let each child pick their own. My husbands grandmother works at Anna's Linens, so I will be using her discount frequently!
Reading is very important to us, so we are putting a few bookshelves in with younger children's books on the bottom shelves, and books more appropriate for older children higher up.
The den upstairs is going to be a playroom, and that will be a little less neutral and a little younger than the bedroom, since that will be just storage unless we actually have a placement in the right age to use the playroom. We are still going to have everything done with animals. We are particularly fond of owls so I'm thinking something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/63285463/tree-with-forest-friends-wall-decals?ref=correlated_featured on the walls.
Wow this post was way too long! I'll stop now! Sorry.
Our den upstairs is going to be the pl
We're still in the waiting to be matched phase, but our nursery is pretty much done:
Our state does as well but we are only using the bottom bunk even though both are set up. We will be licensed for 2 kids, so if we get 2 kids bed age we will take the crib down and separate the beds. Only kids over the age of 6 can be on a top bunk. I grew up with brothers and I will not use them bunked after that age. To scary.
Because we are fostering, we didn't know the age, sex or even how many children would be placed with us! We had jokingly called our guest room "Rudy's Room", since our dog Rudy was the one who used it the most to take a nap. So we decided to use him as the inspiration. Here is a picture of our unisex dog themed nursery.
And here's the link to more details in my blog.
I have to say that now that we have a 5 year-old and an almost 2 year-old sharing this room, I'm really happy that it wasn't too baby. The 2 year-old doesn't really have an opinion, but the 5 year-old loves it!

LOVE THIS!!!! Didn't even know this type of stuff existed. I learn so much from you ladies. The airplanes would be great for my DH. Need to find out the sex and then we can start planning. So fun.
That sounds adorable.
Our future child's room is currently the spare bedroom/storage. It was green when we bought the house and still is. I won't be changing it until I know somebody will be living in there soon. Otherwise, it would just make me sad. I plan to quilt and sew most of nursery. I love colours so I will wait so that I have that to enjoy.
We initially just picked bedding that matched the room as it was, as we didn't really have time to paint, etc.
However, now that she's developed into her own person with her own personality, I'm re-doing her room. The walls will be a pale grey, and her furniture is an espresso brown color. I'm making her crib skirt/toddler bed skirt out of pale pink, pale grey, and ivory damask fabric, using white ruffle curtains, and a white candlestick lamp with a pink ruffle lamp shade. I ordered two A&A crib sheets for her (pink and For the Birds Owls) as well as the Medalian Dream Blanket. I'm excited to see her new room.
She also has some new artwork.... I'll post pictures once it's done
We wanted it neutral because we don't know what gender the baby will be, so ours is mostly cream. Cream walls, ceiling, blinds, I even painted the furniture cream. On the longest wall, though, is a full-wall mural of leaves in the upper right corner, and it fades in from all corners, turquoise, to aqua, to pale yellow, to cream in the middle. It's really pretty. The rocker is upholstered in turquoise moleskin, and I have some lithos of baby animal drawings hung, to match the baby animals cross stitch quilt I'm working on. I have some photos on my blog : onepalermotogo.blogspot.com.
We're going to do a hot-air-balloon theme for a boy or girl. We still deciding on a definite color scheme but I started a board on pinterest for some ideas:
https://pinterest.com/jackieo1309/hot-air-balloon-nursery/
I'm really excited to start working on it once we're officially waiting; I think it will really help me get through wait because it will remind me that we WILL have a baby to go in there eventually. Love reading about all of the ideas!
