What about Chester? I was totally against it and wanted just Chet, but I don't feel comfortable with that as a stand alone name. My husbands grandfather is Chester but goes by Chet. This baby will always be called Chet but Chester is slowly growing on me as an "ok" name. I already have a Max and Simon. Is Chester horrible web though he will be called Chet?
Re: Chester?
First thing I thought of is Chester Fried Chicken.
But honestly, I think it is a very strong name and Chet is such a fiesty/cute nickname to go with it, in my opinion.
Yup, same here.
That was the first thing that popped into my mind as well.

I think Chet would stand by itself. And, not that they are the remotely the same, but I think of Chet in the same category as Brett and Rhett.

This, I think it is going to be a l o n g time before this name will lose that negative association.
What everybody else said.
Plusandalso, I think that the nn Chet is very feminine and pretentious.
LOL sadly I agree!!
Chet is a name to which I have a violent physical reaction, something between a simple cringe and a full-on recoil... I absolutely hate it.
Chester on the other hand... I would say that if you want to call him Chet, then by all means, give him a full name as well--Chester fits the bill fine.
This is the first thing that came to my mind
