Holy f'ucking tantrums

DS will be 3 next month and the temper tantrums have gotten out of control. Between that and all of a sudden not listening. I'm losing patience quickly. What happened to my sweet boy who listens and doesn't have these crazy tantrums. Someone please tell me it gets better.

Re: Holy f'ucking tantrums

  • No, but I can pass you a cup of coffee or a lolly or something good. Each phase has something sucktacular. I effing hate puberty more than tantrums.

  • Everyone says two is bad.  I honestly think that it's three for boys and four for girls.  I am about to lose my mind with my oldest.  It takes everything in me not to smack her bottom sometimes.  The timeout spot is her best friend at this point.

  • I'm reading Love and Logic for Early Childhood. It has some great ideas for older kids. I don't have a 3 year old, so I have no idea how well it works in practice, but it would be worth a read if you have time.

The big idea is that you give them lots of choices that you are okay with (for example: blue shirt or red shirt) and then when you make decisions for them they're more likely to cooperate. You also guide them to problem solve. It's tough to explain. There are tons of specific examples/scenarios which I found helpful. Take my review of this book with a grain of salt because I can only use part of the ideas with a one year old.

They say three is worse than two. I'm reading "Your Three Year Old: Friend or Enemy". Their number one advice? "Use daycare and babysitters as much as possible." Not effing kidding.
This made me lol. And this whole post makes me dread the future.

  • I totally agree with gimmietimmies about puberty--I totally think my eldest is in the pre-puberty stage. I'm so frustrated with him daily.

Edit: omg gimmie, you updated your photos again...they're growing at warp speed, warp-speed I tell ya!

Yeah.  I mean, eventually people just go "Oh, yeah, those days were bad."  What they don't say is that they don't get easier, they just get different.

We're at 9 1/2, 6, and 18 months and trust me, I'll take the honesty of a little tyrannical 18 mo old meltdown  any day.

  • No tantrums here but OMG I think my son has gone deaf, thats the only explanation for the no listening whatsoever, ever!
