Complete random post - stickers on car windows

I am not talking about bumper stickers. I am not talking about the stick figure family stickers that everyone seems to have. I am talking about backseat windows covered with kids stickers from the inside. I feel like I am seeing this more and more often, and I just don't get it. I find it the equivalent of drawing on the walls. But obviously, some parents promote this. I doubt that that many kids just get the idea to stick stickers on their window. And can't you teach your kid that stickers are for appropriate surfaces like paper? Am i being naive because I only have a baby? I feel like this is a line I would never cross. It just looks so trashy, and the cracker crumbs, sippy cups, and random toys littering my car already is e ough. Any thoughs? (I warned you that this was very random.)

  • I would be none too happy if Lena put stickers all over my car. In fact, she wouldn't, It would take only one sticker for her to not be allowed to have stickers in the car anymore. I get picking your battles, and I am in no way a buzzkill, but destroying property being okay is not a lesson I want to teach.

  • I completely agree...I think it looks terrible and I wouldn't be giving my children stickers in the car after the first time that it happened.

  • That is one of my pet peeves. Logan stuck stickers on his bedroom window once and I made him clean them off. My mom had given them to him withouttelling me. I did make him a sticker book to put them in.

  • Real stickers?  Hell no.  I want to say I have a vague recollection of being allowed to play with those static cling "stickers" on long road trips, but you figure by the time a child has the dexterity and reach to get "stickers" on a car window, they can tell the difference between window stickers and real ones, just like knowing to use crayons on paper and not walls.

I was also the kid that stuck real stickers onto wallpaper at home.   I learned the hard way when I had to pick them back off.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • This has totally always irritated me!  WHO lets that happen? it's never just one sticker, it's always like 1/2 of the window.  WHY? I just don't get it.

I dot get it either, and it will never happen in my car. Maybe the gel ones that are for bath time, but when the child gets out of the car, the stickies go with them.

I also don't do bumper stickers or stick figures. The only 'endorsement' on my car is an alumni license plate frame, since I refuse to give free advertising to the dealership where I purchased the car.

  • Not on my car, there are tons of things available for kids to amuse themselves with on a long car ride that don't involve vandalism.

My judgey side says parents who let their kids do this are lazy and have bratty kids who never are told no.

  • WTH? This is like a thing?

    I have not seen that.

Not in my car. No way. No how. I can get behind gel clings. I let me neices use "window paint" on my patio door. But in car? No way. And regular stickers? That shizz is like impossible to get off.

Yep. If a child put a sticker on the window, they'd learn all about goo gone and methods of removal ASAP, and no more stickers in the car.

I don't even like bumper stickers or window decals. It just looks like it devalues the car.

  • My neighbor when I was growing up put stickers all over her bedroom door. Even as a 7 year old I found it incredibly tacky. Definitely wouldn't allow it in my car.
