Favorite for newborns:

1. Kawaii Pure & Natural Pockets. They are a smaller OS diaper that actually fit newborns. I used one insert when DD was newborn, now at 5 months I use both. It is not a nighttime diaper for us.

2. Kissaluvs size 0 fitteds. These were the best for containing runny nb poo. I used them with Proraps NB, Thirsties XS and Bummis Super Brite S when during the time they fit DD. This diaper does not require/have an insert.

Favorite non-newborn diapers:

1. Flips. I use the cover with a PF, the stay dry or the organic insert. Just one of whichever during the day. I do not generally use them for overnight, but if I had to I'd layer a stay dry on top of an organic insert.

2.  BG 4.0 pockets. These are more DH's favorite than mine, but I've never had a problem with them - I just prefer natural fibers. Anyway, at 5 months we use both BG inserts during the day. Again, I don't normally use them over night, but when I do it's the big MF insert wrapped inside the two-layer Babykicks hemp insert.

Favorite Daytime Diaper:

1. BG Freetime. I love it. We don't have to add any absorbency at all.  We only use it during the day (which includes nap time). 

Night time Diaper:

Kawaii Good Night Heavy Wetter. It works perfectly for us. We use the two inserts that came with it. Up to 14 hours at night, and no leaks yet!!

My answer would be different if you would've asked me 2 months, 4 months, etc ago, but for her age and output right now, our fav is BG Freetime in snaps for day & night. At night, I add a joeybunz hemp in small under the flaps. I only add these at night. We own 3 (they come in a 3 pack on amazon) and that's all we've needed since we wash every other day. For daytime and naps we don't need to add any absorbancy.
