Summer Infant Baby Monitor

I have seen mixed reviews on this.... what are your thoughts?  Also, is there another kind you would recommend? I had a good friend who has this monitor and after about a year it has suddenly started going off and on in the middle of the night and making clicking noises....

    I have had a few of them in the last 6 years.  It really depends on where you live and how much you use it.  I live in the city.  Lots of people, but not super dense.  I can't imagine using a monitor past 5 or 6 months if you live somewhere quiet.

    We have one and I hate it. We got ours in April and since then it's frozen up at some point in the middle of the night at least 3 times, maybe more. When I woke up and checked the monitor I noticed. Who knows if she woke up in the middle of the night b/c we both sleep very hard and wouldn't hear her across the house. I don't know which model it is but it's the video kind.
