I thought I'd start a new thread so I didn't highjack BreanneL24's thread

So I find this elimination communication all very interesting.... not sure how I feel about it yet, now what is the difference between EC and potty training? 

I remember reading an article about how potty training before 3 or 4 can lead to serious problems with constipation and UTI's later in life. Not that I would ever wait that long to PT, I'd really like to have DD out of diapers well before 2... especially if we're successful in TTC for 2U2.

Waiting to potty train until age 4 sounds really old. I don't know anyone "in real life" that did EC, but all began potty training between 18m - 2y.

But EC isn't about getting kids out of diapers before/at a predetermined age.

from what I've read it's exactly what pp said.  Learning and listening to your childs cues, and then giving them the opportunity to do their business in the potty/toilet/container.  We actually just started this today.  It was quite fun.  DS loves to be naked so a whole day being naked besides naps was heaven to him!  He even decided to roll back to belly for the first time.  but anyway he did pee in the potty 3 times.  I didn't notice any cues yet, but I put him on right after he nursed.  It's fun so far.
