BOF

Obamas opening lines?

That's why I'm proud to be an American.  And I can easily say he says it much more eloquently than I do.  :)

Hopefully it's not ass-y in your opinion!  :)

Re: BOF

  • Very niiiice. I am liking him more and more. I am really beginning to feel it now.

But still- I was not feeling it at ALL before this.

What if I start flying an american flag on my porch, now?! ( noooo...but I might take down the jolly roger.)

  • Oh god- what if I go christian next!
  • Loading the player...
  • LOL, keep the jolly roger.  Besides you'll have a flag tattoo on your ass anyhow.

We love pirates 'round these parts.  We're having family pictures taken this weekend and bringing Jackson's eye patch and foam swords at the request of the photographer.  SO excited!

  • C'mere and drink the Catholic kool-aid!  You DO NOT WANT TO BE A HEATHEN!  Convert, sinner atheist.

  • I went to catholic school ( odd for a non practicing polish jew, but hey!) Believe it or not!

Sometimes I think about sending my kids to catholic school to see if they turn out as overflowing with contradiction as I am.

Nah. I can't torture them! ( although I think I went to a pretty weirdo school- not at all what I have heard described by other catholic school attendees.)

  • Oh yeah?  My catholic school was a little odd.  We were taught to question our beliefs, taught about condoms, taught about the church's corrupt history... debate was encouraged.  I loved my Catholic high school.

  • I have heard that it is more as you describe-mine was a fire and brimstone crazy hole!...

It is gone now- ( wonder why?) but when I think about it, it kind of cracks me up. I live in Denver now- where it is pretty split English and Spanish, but my school had about half Polish speaking and half English speaking students and staff...The school ( in Pennsylvania) had a VERY poor european feel. There was paddling and closet locking...I don't think that's super common.

My parents only sent me there because we lived in a really dodgey part of the city and they were afraid of the public schools!

I kind of wish I could go back and experience it with less terror in my heart- But then- would I be who I am now? perhaps not!

  • That sounds more fire and brimstone!  LOL.  More evangelical than Catholic.

But hey, if it helped shape you, it can't be all bad.  You're decently cool, despite your scary avatar.  ;)

  • aw, shucks! The feeling is mutual ( except your avatar isn't so scary.)

It really DOES seem more evangelical when I compare my experience to others. There was NO room for doubt or question- I just don't think that's right!

If my parents had homeschooled me...I would be an even bigger hippie, though. ( hello vegan dad?! how does he live without cheese?)

And if I had attended a public school like I wanted to, I might have gotten to be on a step team, and I could have been awesome!

  • Catholics are typically rebels, so you'd usually fit right in.  ;)

Too funny about your dad - how does he live w/out cheese?
