Vaginal breech birth in the Greater Cincinnati area?

I know this is a long shot, but are there any practitioners in the area - and I'd be willing to drive a fair distance - who'd attempt/have past experience with a vaginal breech birth?

If anyone near here does it or knows of someone who might, it would be Dr. Bowen's office.

I'd also google spinning babies and try some of their ideas on getting your baby to turn.  If my baby were breech, I'd have a c/s because it's too risky for me... but if there were a way to turn your baby safely, I'd go that route first.  GL!

  • Nope.  I work with the OB docs, and I don't know of anyone who would ever try that.  It is too risky.  You may try a version to try to turn the baby.  If it doesn't work, a c section is the only option to ensure a good outcome for your baby.  That is a bigger, happier goal than delivering vaginally.

  • I just saw you are 34 weeks.  You still have time to wait for baby to turn.  My daughter was transverse until 37 weeks, then she turned on her own.

Thank you! I know we've got time, I'm just trying to be prepared. It is possible to deliver vaginally with a breech baby (in certain positions, and depending on the health of the mother), OBs just aren't usually trained for it. Ultimately I'll do whatever it takes for a healthy baby.

Just so you know, if you change OBs at this point in the game, you will have to pay an office copay for each and every one of your OB visits so far this pregnancy.  Almost all OBs charge this way.

If you are sent to a peri who ends up delivering you do not.  Because your OB visits are covered under the universal charge at delivery if you do not deliver with the OB you've been seeing, you will have to pay for each of the office visits you've had.

(When I miscarried I was charged a copay for each of my office visits prior to the m/c because I the dr never received the universal payment from the ins. company for delivery of a live baby.  It was a serious kick in the gut.)

  • Today you will not find too many that will take that risk of a breech delivery. They only see law suit. How big do they think your little one is? Research ways to change their position like some prenatal yoga poses, aversion, massage and more can help. I would talk with your current doctor in detail about your options and a c-sec. Talk with some midwives they may have good ideas and even doulas...
