I'm in a weird place. I go from the verge of crying to laughing and joking. Yesterday I was looking at clinical trials trying to find options for us. I'm trying to find a local one because I feel like the stress of coordinating travel for everything is too much. I'm on Long Island and found an oocyte vitrification one, but found out this morning that it's not funded
Has anyone found or participated in one? Any pointers? So many of the ones I see are overseas and we will not be doing that.
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13
Re: Any luck with clinical trials?
I've looked a little and the few that I emailed about didn't work out, but if you can find something that worked for you I think it would be awesome!
Also check local clinics around you-sometimes they have trials that aren't advertised.
BTW-I understand what you're feeling-sometimes I feel totally crazy b/c I can be fine and making a joke one minute to crying the next.

I know Entonm did a clinical trial in the fall. She used to post on the IF board, but I haven't seen her post all that often. She also does the OOP check-in, so it might be worth trying to page her to see if she has any insight into what it's like going through a clinical trial.
Good luck!

Yes, I did a clinical trial. It was called 'mixed menopur' cycle. My meds were paid for and a portion of the IVF itself. Our IVF was unsuccessful but we have three frosties waiting It was about an hour to an hour and a half commute depending on traffic but was worth it. The only down side was that it all happened so fast and it seemed like a whirl wind as well as not having meds that you might normally take with IVF. Not all of the trials offer any kind of financial discount, and they have very strict requirements. Fortunately, it helped us financially since we are unexplained and have didn't already have a failed IVF at that point. I still keep an eye out on clinicaltrials.gov for things in my area, just in case.

Where are the overseas ones (we're already in Europe)? I've seen a few, but mainly in Israel where IVF is already covered. At this rate we're willing to travel if it means doctors seriously taking a vested interest in us, although I think we're probably disqualified due to our previous failures.
I just constantly stalk the clinicaltrials.gov site in hopes that one will work out for us. Every once in awhile one pops up that cuts the costs, and I've seen them look for all different kinds of canidates/dx.
Also just contact clinics near you bc like pp said, sometimes they run studies within office that aren't advertised.
Good luck!
