My dd is 10 months and shes been in the crib since she was 3 months. I was changing her sheets the other day and noticed one of the bolts fell out and was in her crib!!! Can you imagine how awful that could have been? She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth! So when I went to see where it came from I noticed the screw and bolt in the top back right corner of the crib came out! Which meant the side (shorter rail) and back rail came apart. DD is pulling on everything, I can't help but think how terrible it could have been if she 1. ate the bolt or 2. pushed on the loose railing!
We ordered the crib from baby supermall (lesson learned, will never order furniture online without going through an actual store) because they can't send someone out to look at it. So i'm not really sure what I should ask them for. Do I see if they can just send me new bolts? Or a whole new crib? or just get money back to buy new crib somewhere else? I'm just concerned that we will put the new screws and everything in, and it will appear fine like it did the first time around, but will eventually come loose again.
Not sure what to do. Shes sleeping in a pack n play for the time being.
Re: davinci crib literally fell apart!!!
Do you know what a stripped screw looks/feels like? If so, look and see if maybe the screw or the hole is stripped.
I'd be really upset. I know you are supposed to periodically (I think it's once/month?) tighten the crib but even if you didn't do that, the screw still shouldn't completely come out!
I think the idea of contacting the manufacturer, rather than the seller, is a good one. They will have much more expertise about their product and much more of an incentive to help you out.
Do this immediately!
I'm glad you caught all of these things and you daughter didn't get hurt!
Hi Sunflwr2,
Please stop using the crib at this time and contact the manufacturer right away with what has happened. DaVinci can be reached at 323-728-8988, 8am to 5pm, PST, M-F. You can also email them at "info@mdbmail.com" and they respond pretty quick. They require a Model # and PO LOT Serial # (printed on the crib itself) whenever calling so it's helpful to have that handy. And what Leinistar said, photos would be good too.
Lemme know if I can help.
