Late Term and Child Loss

*Parenting after Loss Check-In*

Hello Ladies,

I hope everyone is well and positive this week! If anyone has any questions they would like to ask, please don't be shy.

Do you have any of your angel(s) memorial items displayed in your rainbows nursery? If not, do you have a display elsewhere in your home?

Do you have anything that belonged to your angel(s) that you have passed on to your rainbow baby? (or given to your other child(ren)?)

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

We don't have anything in the nursery as far as a memorial to Jack, however when I was pg w/ Jack, my mom had made some Pooh decorations for the walls, and we left them there for DD

Do you have anything that belonged to your angel(s) that you have passed on to your rainbow baby? (or given to your other child(ren)?) My IL's had bought Jack a book (my MIL read the book to DH when he was little, and his grandpa read the book to MIL when she was little)..enscribed a message to Jack...and the book has come to be one of DD favorites

There is a picture in his nursery that was in my nursery as well as Kam's.  He will lay on his changer and "talk" to it.

I also have her favorite elephant in his little toy hanger.  And her pictures are all over the house too.

He has alot of of her toys that he just got old enough to play with!  He loves them and it actually makes me happy to to see him enjoy them.

Gabriel and Katelyn just tested positive for pertussis and I am scared out of my mind.

  • Do you have any of your angel(s) memorial items displayed in your rainbows nursery? If not, do you have a display elsewhere in your home? No memorial items, persay, but I do have Logan's Build-A-Bear Firefighter and some of the other toys we had in his nursery.  I plan to find an angel of some sort to hang in her window but haven't found just the right thing yet.  We do have a "story book" (made on shutterfly) of Logan's story (pictures of pregnancy, NICU, and NILMDTS) as well as Goodnight Moon (the book we always read to him) and his memory box sitting on a book shelf on display in the living room.

Do you have anything that belonged to your angel(s) that you have passed on to your rainbow baby? (or given to your other child(ren)?) See above.  His toys are her toys.  I haven't been able to break out the Firetrucks yet...but when she's more mobile and able to play with them I will bring them out of the closet.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I am a hot mess...seriously.  There are times throughout the day where I literally feel like such a failure as a mother.  I am exhausted, my nipples are always on fire, there are so many other variables...then the guilt sets in because I'm so wrapped up in trying to provide for Emma that I haven't had time to think about Logan...I don't remember the last time I visited his grave :(

First off you are not a failure, you are a mommy to a brand spanking new newborn.  They are HARD!!!

When G was born I did not get to visit Kam's grave until Mother's day....I didn't even get to go on her birthday I felt so so so terrible. But he knows.

His heart is with you, not at his grave.  A baby's heart always and forever is in their mama's heart.

Second, what kind of angel?  Like a figurine or a windchime?

I have a glittery windchime that I would gladly send you with in an angel.  But it is not a baby angel it is just an angel.  SHe has agreen dress and a green robed angel means lively or full of life.

If that isn't what you are looking for that is fine, I just thought I would offer JIC it is.

Big hugs both of your babies know you love them.

Congrats on your baby boy! I can understand how upsetting it is to leave the hospital w/o him but he will be in good hands in the NICU. He will grow strong and will be home before you know it! Lots of T&P!!!

    Hugs to you!

Congrats on the new baby.  I hope his NICU stay is short and uneventful.

  • Well I don't have my rainbow yet. But I do have my DD. I'm really missing her a lot even though I'm home with her all day. That sounds odd but since I'm on bed rest I can't do any of the real parenting I usually do. I'm grateful for the grandmas help but while they are here she wants to play with them and rarely interacts with me. I miss our alone time and I feel like I have no influence over her life right now. She's recently started acting up at bedtime and I know it's because of the changes in her routine. I just hope all of this doesn't impact her negatively. First the grief when Nathaniel died, now this.
