Anyone else's incision open up?

My incision came open and bled around 8 weeks PP.  The doctor kept telling me to just wait and see if it got worse.  Finally, he put some silver nitrate on it to try to get it to close up.  It looked like it was getting better, but now it came open again (around 17 weeks PP).  Now he is referring me to a surgeon to have it re-opened.  I'm really upset.  I don't want to have to start my recovery all over again.  I have been so careful, and I haven't done any exercise but walking.  Has anyone else had this happen to them?  TIA!

Yes! My incision got an infection and then bursted open! Just make sure it doesn't get infected! I had to wear a woundvac for about 2 months to close up my incision...It was the worst!

Mine actually just opened back up two days ago. It's in one really small spot where I had to have staples in the hospital (I threw up in the hospital right after my c/s and busted open my incision).  I called my OB today and the nurse said to butterfly it closed and cover with a bandage to keep my clothes from rubbing.  She said to call back if it got infected- oozing, hot, fever, red.  I started going on long walks this week and it opened after one of those so I assumed that's what did it but who knows.  Good luck- yours does not sound pleasant at all.

Mine didn't totally re open, but it did start leaking about a week pp... it leaked for about 4 weeks and then eventually stopped. i was freaking out during the time but I kept being told it was normal and now i'm fine.  I never had a fever or anything like that though.... good luck. make sure you stay on top of it and keep it very dry.

mine did, but it was from a large hematoma at 1 week post c-section.  The blood had nowhere else to go.  I was hospitalized because they were concerned about infection but during that time they packed the incision area.  The hematoma stuck around for 8+ more weeks but the bleeding stopped after a week.

 It sounds like your issues are a wound issue more than an obstetrics one at this point.  Id leave your OB and find a good wound  physician.  good luck, I hope this is behind you soon

Thanks everyone!  I went to see a surgeon yesterday who specializes in wound care.  He cut it open a little bit in the office and pulled out a small hard mass that he said could have been caused by an undissolved stitch.  He wants to wait a week and see how it is healing after that before we go to the surgically opening the whole thing up route.
