Best suggestions on finding a doula-in-training?

Hey ladies!! I'm wondering if anyone here has any info on what websites one can find doulas and doulas-in-training in my area (DFW.) I've looked around on DOZENS of places, but can't seem to even find any in my vicinity? :( What am I doing wrong? lol

Thanks in advance! :)

  • Have you checked Doula Match? In my area that brought up lots and lots of doulas in training! Unfortunately, you cannot search by "in training" so you have to click through each one...but I found lots that were low priced or free with varying levels of experience!

  • I'm a member of DFW ICAN and there are always doulas there posting about doulas in training.  Also, check dona.org and see if you can't find a list.  Here's a list of established doulas, you could always call one and ask if they know of any doulas in training, or, assuming you're interested in one in training due to costs, if any are flexible in their costs.

I usually contact local doula trainers when people are looking for students.  I think Debbie Lavin (debbie.lavin@gmail.com) just did a doula training in Dallas at the end of last year.  I'm sure she could give you some names.

  • Good info.  Thanks.  Having trouble finding any such thing in my neck of the woods also.
