Dallas-Fort Worth Babies

Plano Presby

Has anyone delivered here, or plan to deliver here? This is my first baby born in Texas and I chose Presby because of it's convenient location, but don't know anyone with experience.

Re: Plano Presby

  • I've had two co-workers deliver there recently and they raved about it. My husband and I are touring there this Saturday to see for ourselves.

  • I delivered there, and had a great experience!  My PP nurses on the last day I was there were horrible, but it was July 3, (it was a Saturday) so being a holiday weekend I have feeling the bottom of the barrell were working. Aside from that no complaints!

  • I delivered there w/ my 1st in June 2010 and had an awesome experience. I ended up being there 4 nights even though I had a vag delivery (first night was induction, 3rd night my BP was still elevated and wouldn't go down). The care from the nurses and lactation counselors was really great. I felt well cared for, and listened to, and the food was really good too!. I'm delivering there again this September and looking forward to it. The only problem I had was with my IV-took the nurses 3 tries and 2 different nurses to get it in. the worst pain of the whole process lol.

  • My sister delivered at Plano Presby and loved it- I delivered a month later at Dallas Presby and was so jealous because Plano was SO much nicer (though I've seen that Dallas has since remodeled). Granted this was three years ago, but the food was really good, she was induced and was supposed to labor in the same room and be there until she left but had to have a csection, but she didn't change rooms other than that (Dallas Presby I was induced in one room, labored/delivered in another, and then stayed the last two days in a third, lots of moving). I hear Allen Presby is similar to Plano just not as big of an overall hospital system.

  • I delivered there in June and loved it!  I was there for 3 nights (had a CS, though), and had great care - both for me and baby.  My OB's office is also in one of the medical office buildings there (as is DS's pediatrician), so if I'd ended up delivering vaginally, it would have been easy for him to get there in time. Smile  If you're planning to breastfeed, I LOVE that they have lactation consultants there every day, all nurses in the L&D/maternity and nursery areas have done additional training to be able to help support BFing moms, and the hospital is certified as a Baby Friendly hospital.

After you have baby, they offer some great support services for mom.  There is a new mom group (for moms with babies up to about 7 months) and a graduate moms group (for about 7 months to 1 year) that meets every week - a great place to just get support from other moms and the nurse facilitator, and know some of what you're experiencing/going through is completely normal.  I'm only going to be able to attend until I go back to work in a few weeks, but I still enjoy it.  They also have a mom-to-mom group for BFing moms that meets twice monthly and a lactation consultant facilitates that group - they weigh baby before/after feeding while you're there so you can get an idea of how much baby is eating, plus answer any and all questions you have.  So a benefit of Plano Presby after you deliver is all the support you have available!
