Low estradiol levels on day 5 labs

Hi everyone,

My partner are going through our first IVF cycle. I will take my day 5 stim drugs tonight (300mg Bravelle, 75mg Menopur, and 3 uu of Lupron). I went in for an ultrasound and lab this morning. The ultrasound revealed about 8 follicles on my left side and 10 on my right. However, I was advised this afternoon that my estradiol level is 105 which the nurse described as being on the "low end". She didn't indcate that we were to call it off but I now am totally worried. I have day 8 US/labs on Saturday so I hope to see some significant improvement.

Is it possible to just be a slow starter and still have a chance at getting pregnant? Am I stressing out too early?

    How many days have you taken stims?  I can tell you I started really slow and sure enough I caught up.  My IVF stats are in my siggy but you can see I ended up responding great (actually a little to good - OHSS).

    I would definitely ask when you are there in 3 days but I wouldn't worry about it. 


    After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
    IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
    No heartbeat at 10w6d
    FET August 27,2012 = BFP!

    I started my stims on Saturday the 7th so at the time that I took the labs, I had only taken 4 doses.

     I really hope that I'm just going to gradually get there. We've been trying for a year with 6 failed IUI's. They can't identify why they didn't work because anatomically and physiologically, I'm fine. We shall see.

    I'm so glad these resources online are available. I don't know anyone personally that has gone through this process so it's nice to make a connection.

    I think it depends what your baseline estrogen was to see how low that 105 was. My baseline was 82 for IVF #1 and I think it was around 500 after 3 days so my meds were lowered. I think they wanted it more around 300-350. If you started with lower estrogen, then 105 may not be bad. 

    Did they increase your dosage?

    I looked my previous stats up to give you a reference.  Baseline was <20, after 2 days of stims it was 56, and after 5 days it was 193.  My RE raised my dosage after 2 days.

    Did your RE raise your dose?  If they are concerned they should.   Good luck!

    Well, my day 8 lab showed an 452 estradiol leve and day ten had a 1145 level. I have 23 (quickly counted) follicles so everything appears to look really good.

    My nurse practitioner said that there's no way to compare to anyone else because there are just too many variables to consider. I guess I was just a late bloomer with my stims. Yay!
