This is my first baby and since my husband is half Filipino/half Caucasian and I am fully Caucasian, I am curious if anyone else is/has had a biracial baby. Does it tend to look more like the "dominant" race? In my husband's family, each of the three brothers are completely diverse, with random Asian and white characteristics but all having black hair.
Everyone thinks the baby will have black hair, brown eyes, and darker skin but I heard that there's a chance of it having my hair and eyes too--just less likely. People have told me that our baby will look like Jon and Kate's kids since she is white and he is half Korean.
Any experiences out there with this? Do you know of any 1/4 Filipino babies or celebrities? I hate not having an idea of what the baby will look like as crazy as that sounds!
Re: Anyone else having a biracial baby?
My brother in law, who is white, married a Filipino woman and they have two kids. The kids are beautiful, and at a glance look more like their mom because of the similar coloring. But, they also really look like their dad, too. It's such a beautiful miracle how kids look so much like BOTH of their parents, even in biracial couples.
You kids will still look like you, but they will probably get those dominant features like the dark hair you mentioned.
My husband is Irish (born and raised in Ireland) and I am Chinese-American. DD looks pretty Chinese to me, but my father told my sister that she doesn't look Chinese to him at all. Top half of her face is all me. Eyes and check dimples. Bottom half is all DH. Lips and chin. Her hair is dark brown, not black like mine. And it is curly like DH's was when he was a baby.
My friend is half Japanese half Caucasian. He has dark hair and hazel-y eyes. His wife is blonde with blue eyes. Their son is blonde with blue eyes. It is crazy. I guess it depends on the recessive genes on the baby's father's side? 50-50 right?
You can get an idea of what LO will look like if you get a 3-d US. Not knowing is a little mind wrecking. However there is so much you don't know with pg (Will I give birth wk 35 or 42? Will the baby be healthy? Will I have a long or short labor?) I feel it's just something we have to accept. I try not to think about it.
Based on my friends and actors, actresses, models, etc. your child's Filipino gene's will probably be the most dominant.
Technically, there's only one race, people are then grouped into categories based on how they are perceived (more often than not by skin color and dominant features). Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure that's right. Both DH and I are light skin with dark hair and eyes and similar features. I'm Dominican so my background can be traced to Spaniard, French and African, he's a European mish mosh but predominantly Irish and Italian. Either way, we weren't expecting any big surprised on DS's overall appearance. My best friend on the other hand shares the same general ancestral background as her DH (both Dominican) but she's white and he's black and they have completely different features so it will be interesting to see which ends up being the most dominant.

My boyfriend is Mexican & has 2 daughters from a previous relationship. His ex is white. Both girls are a little different-1 has very dark brown hair & darker complexion with huge brown eyes, the other has lighter brown hair, lighter complexion, but still the huge brown beautiful eyes
You put them out in the sun though (sunscreen or not) & they both sure tan up! Never burn!

My husband and his brother are both half Filipino/half Caucasian. Their father is blond blue eyed. Anyways, the brother in law married Caucasian who is blonde blued eye. Their baby is brown hair with bright blue eyes!!! She definitely has the majority of the Caucasian gene since she is 3/4 Cauasian and 1/4 Filipino.
i`m Chinese and we will probably have an Asian baby. However, my husband is convinced that our baby will have blue eyes too!
Good luck to you!!

I am caucasion (french/cajun), and DH is Hispanic/Caucasion. DH has dark har, eyes and a very tan skin tone. He has 2 kids from previous relationships. Both children have brown hair, eyes, and darker cmplexions. SS's mom is white, so he is actually only 1/4 hispanic. SD's mom is fully hispanic. The children look like brother and sister though...I am still holding out hope for a child that looks like me (blonde hair, green/light eyes, fair with freckles) Just so I don't look out of place in family pics:) lol Which is entirely possible because I somewhat resemble my mom (the French side), but my dad has the dark cajun features and looks more hispanic than DH. My SK look like they are related to my dad, but not me. My sister ended up with dark hari, dark eyes and features, but fair with freckles. I did try a baby morpher yesterday for fun using DH and my pics. The kids were precious! Of course I am going to be baised
