This a two in one. First of all it's so sad to see this board slowing down so much. I recently moved and have been working a lot on my blog,so it's been crazy. But I'm here, where's everyone!?!
Anyway, my questions. What is your go-to food for your LO when, say, there's nothing and you haven't cook/shopped? Also, if you are out its time to eat but you have only a few minutes, no time for a sit down restaurant and all you have with you is a mum mum, what do you? What would you feed LO? DS has never eaten "finger foods" or purees so if I don't have a full meal ready sometimes I don't know what to feed him :-/
I was in this conundrum the other day. DH had only 30 before going back to work I had nothing on me and fast food is out of the question for us. I usually carry a Plum Organic pouch for a quick snack but that day I had nothing! What would you have done?
Re: Go to food
Things have been busy, so I don't come onto TB as much as before.
If we need to whip up some quick food for DD, we usually go with cheese, crackers, boiled eggs, yogurt... (some combination of the above)
99% of the time, when I leave the house with DD, I pack a bunch of snacks with us: graham crackers, cheese slices, cereal bars, and yogurt melts. If I know she is going to need a meal (not just a snack) outdoors, I will pack a piece of rotisserie chicken and some rice/potatoes/veggies.
If we're planning on eating out at a restaurant or the mall, we usually just get her food from there as well - she is IN LOVE with the split pea soup from this deli at the food court!
I want to add that I'm still BFing her so that sometimes fills her tummy a bit until we get back home.
Didn't think of a grocery store! Good idea!
The pouches, funny thing, he was never into anything mashed or pureed until about a month ago when I decided to give them a try, turns out he loves those pouches!

We have lots of containers of prepared food in our fridge for V at all times. I work full-time and DH is home with V, so we chop fruits, veggies, tofu, etc. and keep them in the fridge. He gives Violet a tablespoon or two of each food group at most meals. We also keep Annie's cheddar bunnies, bananas, and string cheese on hand for snacks or sides at meal time.
Violet gets oatmeal mixed with applesauce and cinnamon (or occasionally mixed with applesauce) and fruit or scrambled eggs and fruit for breakfast almost every morning. Quick breakfast!
I try to bring string cheese and a sippy cup with us whenever we're leaving the house for long periods. There are a few places I'll grab food for DD in a pinch (paninis at a local deli, grilled nuggets at Chick fil A if I HAVE to, a quesadilla at Moe's, etc.). I try not to be too strict since she eats a wide variety of healthy, organic foods at home.
BFP #1 9/7/10, EDD 5/14/11, Violet born 5/27/11.
BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
I always have a container of applesauce, a jar of puree veggies and graham crackers in my diaper bag and a water bottle. Plus, I fill up her sippy cup of water before we leave. Depending on where we are going I also throw in extras.
We always have stuff ready to go in the fridge, veggies/fruits/cheese.
For quickies we like greek yogurt, peanut butter sandwiches, blueberries, strawberries and I always have an emergency stash of canned peaches (or some other fruit) in the pantry ha.
If we go out to dinner I pack her fruits/veggies/greek yogurt or cottage cheese (another quickie) and then we give her bites of our food. She eats what we eat anyway. And OMGssssss she loves french fries and sweet potatoe fries. And broccoli, peas and carrots. whatever.

Thanks for your input ladies! I guess I should relax a bit and not feel guilty if I just give him some fruit and cheese to hold him over. Since he eats what we eat--and I try my hardest to only eat healthy whole foods and nothing processed--I feel panicked when I don't have a full meal I've cooked ready for him, my go-to when in a pinch has been an omelet with cheese and spinach and he loves it and I carry with me snacks but I've felt like that is not a proper meal. He still BF a lot so at least I feel good knowing that I always have a "snack" ready for him

In her diaper bag, I carry around snacks with us--cheerios, freeze dried fruits, raisins, etc. But for the most part, my daughter is pretty good at waiting for meals. If we are out right around lunch time/dinner time, I just let her munch on one of the snacks that we have.
