Does this seem like fun?

My SIL is trying to get a group to go to Wild Waves, which is our local and lame theme park. She wants take her DD there, who just turned 1. We both are currently pregnant, she is due in Oct though. It just doesn't seem like much fun to spend the 50$ for the adults to get in to sit in the kiddie pool for a day. We can't do anything there cuz we are pregnant, and the kids aren't old enough or coordinated enough to really get a kick out of the pirate ship water thing there. Am I crazy here?

  • I'm familiar with that park.  There's no where to go to get shade.  It could be fun, but it could be a very big fat fail.  Are you guys going to Enchanted Park too to let the kids ride on?  There's tons of trees and shade there, along with some fun kiddy rides.
  • It would be nice to go hang out in the pool, but the cost seems a bit steep.  Is there a less costy pool that you could go to instead?

  • Do you have any sprayground/splash parks near you? Or maybe a city pool that is fancier? I wouldn't spend $50 just to watch toddlers splashing around.

  • I would totally not be doing that. Our timing was a bit off with DD and I was pregnant for our Disney trip - that was bad enough and there was actually a lot to do for a pregnant woman.

  • That does seem a little pricey given her age. I am taking DD to a waterpark next week but, I am not pregnant (it wouldn't matter if I were though b/c I woudn't ride any rides unless I was kid free) and it doesn't cost near that much ($20). I am taking her b/c i think it will be a fun experience for her. She's not fond of the pool so I am thinking she will enjoy this more b/c there is more things for her to do that doesn't require me holding her. If that makes any sense.

The problem is that it would be 2 pregnant ladies, a 1 year old, and an almost 2 year old. We would do the rides if we can. The rest of it just seems kinda silly in our current condition. We also do not have very many local pools or splash parks. The only thing I would suggest is our local YMCA. I'd rather pay 10$ to let the kids play in a more age appropriate kiddie pool.

  • C started going at around 9 months old and loved it. He wasn't walking yet. We mostly went around the river, and he had fun sitting in the water and splashing. I also went when pg the summer before; it was so nice and cooling to just sit in the wave pool and to walk around in water so that I got some exercise that didn't kill my back. At ours, kids under 2 are free, so we just pay for me and H. However, if you think you wouldn't enjoy it, dont go.

Yeah, kids under 3 are free for ours. The problem is that ^ flags bought them out years ago and it's like 50$ just for me to get in.

I honestly would do the YMCA over WW.  Seriously, there is NO shade.  There isn't really a splash pad or a safe place for young kids to go, unless you count the edges of the wave pool.  And that isn't very fun or safe - not only the waves splashing up, but kids running in & out without paying attention.

I threw the rides in to maybe have a perk, but I wouldn't go.

Yeah. I think I won't go. However, I really would hate to see my SIL waste her money when they are tight on cash and expecting a baby in a few months. Not for something as silly as this. I guess I will have to talk to her.

  • That wouldn't be my idea of fun. Get a plastic pool and hang-out in your backyard!

  • Nope.  No fun at all!  Chances are it will be cold and rainy when you go anyway.  We have had nice weather for a week now.  There is no way it's going to last much longer.

Fuckings. I thought that was the cost for two tickets. Six Flags has Hurricane Harbor here and I think its 25-30 per person, which is still ridic IMO.

C loves it now, so H and I have a season pass, but I can see someone only a year old not enjoying as much, and being pg if you think you wont enjoy it, then absolutely do not waste the money.

No, that doesn't sound like fun.  I went to a waterpark with my teenage nieces & nephew when I was about 6 months pregnant.  It wasn't fun then & I can't imagine it would be more fun chasing around a 1 yo on top of it.

PPs suggestions of a splash pad or sprinkler in the yard sounds a lot more fun to me.  You'd save a lot of money that way, too.

  • Not for $50.  No way.
