Putting my dog down today. :'(

My dad is taking our family dog to be put down today. It sucks! She is 9 1/2yo so she has had a good life. Over the last little while she has been having a hard time walking. We thought it was her hips, but now she can't walk at all and the vet told us that she has a neurological issue in her spine that's causing her to go paralyzed. I feel worse for my mom and younger brother (they were closest to her) and my niece (10) and nephew (5). I also feel guilty because my niece is spending the day with me and they don't want her to know till after it is over, so I can't show any emotion in front of her. I had to let it out somewhere. Experiencing any kind of loss now hits me so hard!

Sorry for not being as supportive over the last few days. I hope everyone is doing okay!

    I am so sorry.  We had a golden retirever that we bought for Kamryn right when she was born.  SHe got bit by a copperhead a few weeks ago and we had to put her to sleep.

    Huge hugs it is so hard losing the things you are close to when you have already lost so much.

    Losing pets is always difficult, but be glad knowing she had a good life because of you and your family!

    So sorry for your loss.

    I'm so sorry.  We just had to put our cat down a few weeks ago, and it was so hard.  I knew it was the right thing to do, but that didn't make it any easier.  Sending you giant (((HUGS))). 
    Mom to Eliott Alexander, born sleeping at 37 weeks on 8/13/10. Most of us only dream of angels - I held one in my arms.

    I'm so sorry that your family had to make the difficult but compassionate choice to put down your doggy. Pets can be such a bit part of one's family and can leave such a hole when they are gone. {{hugs}}
