  • I'm SS - a combo of all of the above.

    I'm a manager and so very little of my work is on a formal timeline, so I try to delegate or finish whatever I can before I leave.  My team and my boss will cover for me in my absence for any decisions that need to be made.  Occassionally, I need to cover things during my vacations, but that is rare.

  • I voted for D but I guess A would also be applicable if something that was timesensative came up and I was out of the office.

  • I have a back-up. He does his work AND my work.  When he's out, I do his and mine as well.

  • SS here.  I catch up on some things when I get back from a vacation.  Some things other coworkers take on while I'm out, and some things get sent out to outside counsel to cover.

  • I'm a little bit of A and B.  There are things I can get done so I do not have to burden my back-ups (I actually have 5 back ups in total to cover for each of my accounts) but they all fully cover for things I can't do when I'm away.
  • SS, because I'm a teacher.  Vacation days are built in and you don't get other days off unless there is some sort of emergency....in which case a sub will come in.

  • I chose SS because it's a little of everything.  I also schedule vacation time when I know it's slow, so there isn't as much to do.

  • I work in rehab in a hospital. So when someone is off, sometimes we'll get per diem help, otherwise we have to prioritize and see as many of each others' patients as possible.

  • I'm a "mixture" as well.  Stuff that needs to get done everyday someone else is trained to do when I'm away, other things just sit on my desk and pile up while I'm on vacation so I do my best to clear my desk before leaving because I know it will be full when I get back!

  • SS - I'm an accountant (never woulda guessed it right?).  Therefore, I do not do specific duties and I do not have specific clients.  Therefore, when I am gone, there is just one less person to do the files.  For the most part, our office can handle that as we have slower times where we can catch up.  For my one year mat leave, they did hire someone to replace me, but when I go on vacation, they don't need coverage.

    My back up can do parts of my job but not all and has his own responsibilities still so he doesn't have the time to do 2 jobs. :)

    So I work extra before/after vacation to take care of clients and suppliers. I also have my phone on me if someone needs something answered by me and me alone.
