I am torn between the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 and the Chicco KeyFit 30. I am not too concerned with the weight or price, I can get passed that for safety and comfort for my baby. My first priority is safety, but I do want something that will last
longer than 3 or 4 months and be comfortable for baby. I have read
reviews that the Peg Perego can be outgrown quickly and that it is a
pain to install and carry, but that the fabric is great and the safety
is top-notch. Does anyone have experience with either of these car seats? Thanks!
Re: Chicco vs. Peg Perego Infant Car Seat
They're both "safe". I wouldn't worry about that. All carseats are "safe". There are differences in additional impact, padding, weight limits, etc. Doesn't make other seats "unsafe".
That being said, I had a Peg Perego for all 3 of my kids and HATED it. It is so friggin' HEAVY and a PITA to lug around. That seat expired so I can't use it for #4. I got a Graco Snugride this time......
GL in your decision!
The Chicco Key Fit 30 is ranked #1 in safety by consumer reports.
I don't have a preference (sorry) - but just wanted to throw in - all carseats have to pass the same safety standards and the consumer reports is known for stating a safety rating they have no real testing abilities to state. It is based off ease of use (and thus proper installation - which does speak to safety) -
The best seat for you will be the one that fits your child, your car and your preferences.
I'm using the safety first onboard air - mostly because its a great seat that I will have for free (bought for my best friend last year - (so not expired) - I know its not been in a crash and not been left in water or anything of the sort).
All that said - if you have heard the peg perego is outgrown quickly - I would lean to the chicco (if you are looking at only these two) as I know several people who have loved them
