This is my daughter's name so I obviously love it. We pronounce it like Amelia but beginning with "e" like Emily. Her nickname, which post ppl call her is Emmie.
I would pronounce it Eh-milia. I much prefer it to Amelia.

Even though I know there's a slight difference, I don't really hear it when I say it, or when anyone else says it for that matter. It's also one of the names we are considering, with the nickname Emmy.
Re: Emilia
I guess it is subtle... but Amelia we would say as ah meal a
Emilia as eh mil a
Sounds very similar, but not exact. He also thinks that everyone will just spell it Amelia and she would have to correct people.
Sounds like that would likely be the case:)
I wouldn't pronounce them the same way but the difference is really subtle and might get lost when it's said quickly.
Amelia = uh-MEEL-ya
Emilia = eh-MEEL-ya
