With how strong of a girl you are, you would be totally fine. I am such a wimp and I actually prefer PIO over suppositories after having done both now. As long as you donthem right it is not bad at all!

  • I was petrified my 1st time getting it, but I can honestly say it was not bad at all. I don't love it, but it doesn't hurt, which I am so surprised about. I'm thinking it will get worse as time goes on though. I've done 8 days of it so far.

  • PIO is hit or miss for me. I had some that were easy and others that were painful and one that produced quite a bit of blood. I have learned to ice really well - for like 20 minutes. That seems to help. I am 12 days in.

It is actually better to use moist heat for 10 min prior and 10 min after, while massaging.  My nurse said that it helps the progesterone make its way through your muscles better and prevents knots. She said ice can keep it trapped in the muscle. I put a wet wash cloth in the microwave and keep reheating it. But, everyone has their own method that works for them as well ??

Agreed. You are supposed to use heat, not ice.

I have heard that but my RE said to use ice. My issue is that it hurts when the needle is inserted only. My DH rubs with a hot washcloth afterwards and I use a heating pad. So far zero lumps just that painful initial needle prick. I will try heat before and see but the last 2 ice icing long seemed to help.

If it helps, then I would say to continue doing it! Whatever you can do to make the process easier!

Hopefully the ELMA cream helps you out.
