The most recent edition of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, published by La Leche League International. It is SOO good!! Also, the Nursing Mother's Companion.
I'm half way through Dr. Jack Newmans guide to breastfeeding, and i'm finding it VERY clear and informative. It is also on the reading list for DONA Doula certifying.
Also, kellymom.com is a wonderful resource for all things breastfeeding and baby. When it comes down to it, I thought the most helpful thing was having the LC come to our house (twice) to help us with issues we were having. I think reading about breastfeeding is good but you can't truly learn it until you start to practice.

And if you can't afford a LC (or don't have access to one) then your local LLL is a great resource. Not only for breastfeeding but also just connecting with other moms in your same shoes.

Awesome point... ours was included in the birthing center fees and I *think* most hospitals provide them but could definitely be wrong. No clue what they charge otherwise. LLL is helpful, for sure.
