I hate Farmers -insurance rant

I'm going to sound like a whiny commercial for a sec.

I cannot believe how much I have been paying for my auto insurance.

I've been with farmers for 12 years (4 on my parents policy, 8 on my own) and their latest policy premiums have put the nail in the coffin. We got a new car and when I called to add it to the policy, my agent gave me the monthly total of: $420.00!! This is for a 2-car policy with 1 no-fault claim for the life of it, 2 over 25 years of age drivers, with no accidents or violations. I was fuming. The monthly premium when we sell the old car: still high at $280 monthly.

We sold our old car almost right away so I decided this would be a great time to drop Farmers. I called Progressive. Our grand total for the entire 6 month policy: $405, making our monthly bill $75.00

I know it's completely my fault for not shopping around sooner. I just paid out the nose for almost a decade because of it.

I feel you. We were with AllState for 8 years and last November during our move we forgot to pay the bill, we got a letter and then tried to pay it, they cut us off after ONE missed payment.

We called Progressive and explained the situation, they were completely nice and we went from paying $540 every 6 months to $246 every 6 months, and we also got better coverage with Progressive.

I hate AllState, and they keep calling asking if we would consider switching, I laugh and hang-up.

I think they were happy to see us go? I dunno but my agent sounded as non-chalant as if I had asked her to tea. She didn't ask me why or to reconsider, nada. It hurt a little.

My H and I switched to Progressive last year and we've been really pleased with them. You can also add and delete vehicles from within your profile, so no dealing with busy agents and rude office workers.

Man, I have progressive. I was a little shocked when my policy went up when I got my new car. I was paying 80$ a month for liability, then when I got my new car it went up to 120$ for just liability. Granted, I'm 22, have 1 ticket on record, and my car was built in 2001. Needless to say when I noticed it went under 100$ again I was happy.

We currently have Progressive also because they saved us money, but I started looking at their customer service records online.They are HORRIBLE! I'm reconsidering!
