s/o food pouches - they should make reusable ones!

Or do they and I'm just not aware? Those things are awesome at giving me a break in really desperate situations but I'm a cheap-o that doesn't like to spend $1+ per pouch!

I dont think they do which sucks.  I have all these jars of food I bought that my LO won't eat.  She'll only eat baby food out of pouches.

  • My friend actually looked into inventing them but it was going to cost a few grand to do an she didn't have the money.

  • They do! They make the Boon Spoon but there is also a pouch you can buy that a friend told me about. I will try to find out what it's called!

  • I looked into buying the reusable one that PP posted, but that's a bunch of money and the reviews were kind of mixed.  So, I still buy the disposable ones, but WalMart has big boxes of them -- I want to say that they come down to .60-something/each, but I'm not entirely sure.  They have apple, apple-cinnamon, apple-strawberry, apple-peach, apple-banana.  Not a great variety, but we only use them occasionally on the go for snacks, so it works.

Awesome! I'll have to check them out!

I had someone pass on their never-opened boon spoon and never opened it myself. Definitely let me know if you find the pouches!

60 cents is the best I've seen. I was able to get some on sale for 79 cents and we don't use them a lot but it'd sure be a nice option for on the go or when we go out to eat.

  • I've seen some posters on other boards say they like both of those, but I haven't tried them. I am tempted though.
  • I have the one made by sili co.  It's ok.  Food has to be SUPER smooth - as in from the jar smooth - to get through the bite-and-suck spout.  They also have a more free-flowing one that came out in December that's better, but offers no protection from little squeezing fingers.

I like it, but getting things that smooth is a challenge for me.  I am confident it would be awesome for leftover jars of uneaten puree though.

And... as a shameless plug.... they are a local business to me and I was able to pick it up in their office instead of paying shipping.  Really nice people, too!

Thanks for the info. Would regular "adult" applesauce work in it? That's probably what I would want to put in it most often...

  • I've been telling DH that I wish there was a reusable pouch!  Now I can't decide which of those 2 linked products I like better!

  • We just started using the silli squeeze too. They sell 2 different kinds - one which is leak proof and more for babies and one for older kids. We started off with the "baby" one, but DD struggled to figure out how to use it. So we bought the older kid version and used it for the first time today. It works pretty well.

  • I was going to buy one and then I just started filling up used pouches. After he sucks one down, I rinse it REALLY well and fill it up with whatever I have. I use an old medicine syringe that came with ibuprofen or something. I keep a few in the fridge at all times. I only reuse them once or maybeee twice. Good way to use up extra jars of food and I can do more veggies than fruit, and add baby cereal I'm still trying to use up.

I don't know, but I can try tomorrow and let you know. :)

  • For anyone that's used the reusable ones - did you find them easy to squeeze?  Just looking at the pics they look a little hard for small hands to squeeze.
  • We have the Sili Squeeze also, it took a while for the kids to figure it out, like try giving it to them with a meal every day for a little while. Took a couple weeks maybe, but they are chowing now. I use it for pureeing applesauce and plain yogurt right now, but plan on doing avacado/banana, berries with some spinach mixed in, etc....

If you "like" them on FB, they post recipes and also have ideas on their site. I plan on recreating some of the store bought pouches as well, i.e. squash and apple, etc...

     HTH!

Also a side note, they are sold out of all but one color/size option right now and are hoping to get stock in soon, it's been this way for weeks with their inventory....

  • There is a new product called Squishy Snak Pak. It is a reusable spout pouch that resembles the prepackaged baby food pouches, but you can reuse this. www.squishysnakpak.com
  • Try these reusable food pouches.  They are easy to fill and clean.  https://www.Squooshi.com/
