Wrap/carrier for a toddler

DS is currently sleeping in my moby, hehe. I bought it at around 8 months, wore him a lot for a couple weeks, then stopped. He started walking at 9.5 months, so he wasn't interested in being wrapped.

The moby isn't as bad as I thought it would be now that he's heavier. He's 21.5 pounds, 31.5 inches. I've read on here about woven wraps being better for heavier kids, but I'm not sure how much they cost, or if it's worth it at this point or what. We do have a baby bjorn, that we don't use AT ALL because it kills my back.

I really love how light weight the moby is, it doesn't make me too hot, and I love the even distribution of the weight. We might have another baby..... Thats TBD. But, is it worth it at this point to get another carrier? And what are some good ones?

Re: Wrap/carrier for a toddler

  • A woven wrap is one of my favorite carriers, I have 4, all in different sizes.  However, there comes a time when baby no longer wants to be wrapped or moves to much so if you're going to get just one, I'd go with a toddler ssc.  Look at the toddler Tula, Kinderpack, Bamberoo, and Olives & Applesauces.  They are awesome and make toddler sized carriers. You can even get custom wrap conversion from most of these companies.

  • For running errands and on-the-go, I use a ring sling. I would use the Moby (loved it), but between the heat, time it takes to get set up, and D's activity level (HIGH), it doesn't really work for us.

For hiking/outings, we have an Osprey kid carrier. (These are new this year, so not available second-hand.). Super comfortable for D and carries well for me. I started doing yardwork in it at the end of the day when D's not quite ready for bed.
