Multiples

when to start registry?

Hi!  When did you start registering?  This is my first pregnancy (twins) and I'm a little over 10 weeks.  DH and I are super excited and have started looking at cribs and room designs online, but at the same time we are trying not to get ahead of ourselves because we aren't out of the first trimester yet.

Re: when to start registry?

  • We will be registering at the end of the month at the 17/18 week mark. Personally, myself, I couldn't register in the 1st tri. But I have started a spreadsheet listing things I will need/want (ideas from other twin registry recommendations from google) and put in my own preferenaces - like what stroller in particular we want or what car seats we have decided on. I think it will make registering and keeping track of what to buy easy!

  • I have mentally started my registry and have been putting together a wishlist on Amazon.com to keep track of it all. I will go to the stores and do my real registries in a few weeks when I find out the sexes.

My first shower is at 22 weeks - because it is out of state and I have to fly - so I have been requested to complete something sooner rather than later. It's a small shower though, just 8 college friends.

My big shower is at 28 weeks so I need to have the registry completed by then most definitely.

I really look at it as more of a shopping/to-do list for me than a gift list, so my Type-A personality is itching to get it done.

  • I'm not even quite to week  9 yet, but I started my online registries weeks ago. I'm not going to start sharing links or doing "in store" registries until month 4 - but I like to have lots of advanced time to plan and price things out. Gives me a visual on what I think I should look for second hand, what to ask for new, etc.

  • Thanks for the input ladies.  I should at least start doing brand research because I know that alone will be big task.

  • I know it's early, but my husband and I created one on babies r us about a week or two ago. We haven't given it to anyone, but as I come across recommendations and do my own research, I go select what we want. It's sort of a check list also, but you don't waste your time creating multiple lists!  I don't have much on there, but I know what bottles we want, car seats and strollers and i think that's it.

  • Don't let ANYONE tell you whats right or wrong. Several people on these boards were very rude to me when I said I had started my registry really early. They made comments that made me feel like I was an idiot because I wasn't "pregnant enough" yet. Well, I'll tell you what, you start whenever you want. I'm sure glad we did because we learned there is NO car seat that fits in our car (especially behind my giant of a husband). So now do we not only have to plan for two babies in our home, but we're having to get a new car and I do NOT want to be car shopping when I'm so big I can't move, OR in the winter. We have several registries, that we still edit all the time. We registered for a boy color and a girl color in everything we liked (in store), then once we find out the sexes we'll adjust accordingly and edit our registries. There is NOTHING wrong with being super-prepared and enjoy it while you can. It gives you lots of time to research and find some of the best stuff!  Keep in mind, registering for seasonal items or clothing NOW would not be a good choice as odds are those won't be available by the time people are shopping from your lists. :) Have fun, do what you want! ;)
  • I started registering around 20w after our anatomy scan. I did a lot of Baby Bargains research before that, though.. probably starting after the NT scan.
