DH and I have been kicking names around for our hypothetical next DS. WDYT? Our last name does start with an S, but I don't think it would be too much of a problem. Philip is after my grandfather.
Very nice name. Only thing to consider (completely not a deal breaker but something to consider) is that Miles is getting very popular and I wouldn't be surprised to see it jump up on the SSA baby names list in coming years. I know probably 10 Miles' from newborn to toddler age right now.
Hmm, I haven't met a Miles in years (I went to school with one so he'd be in his mid-30's). And I subbed in elementary this year and I don't think I met a single one there either. It looks like it's been slowly rising for the past 30 years or so. As long as it's not in the top 50 I'm pretty good.
Miles is our boy name too and I wanted to use the mn Simon since it's my maiden name but I didn't like the way it sounded chopped off. I would reconsider if Miles sounds choppy with your ln. I do think it's a great name.

Re: Miles Philip
I like Miles, but I would consider that when your last name begins with the last letter of your first name, the sound tends to get chopped off.
Miles Smith can sound like Miles Mith.
