How do you co-sleep with a roller?

DD is 7 months old and she rolls and sleeps on her tummy at night. We co-slept for a while when she was younger but then our mattress was on the floor (couldn't fit a box spring up the stairs lol). Then I just did a pillow or a rolled up comforter wall on the edge so she wouldn't roll off. Now the drop off our bed is several feet down and it makes me really nervous to sleep with her again, yet I am dying to! She's wiggly and I'm afraid she'll wake up before me and push the pillows off the bed and proceed to roll off herself, or just roll right over them in her sleep! Any advice? TIA

Re: How do you co-sleep with a roller?

  • I bought a bed rail. He can climb over it, but not without waking up and doing it on purpose (and he never has).

  • DS is a roller, but he sleeps between my husband and me. We have a king size bed, so he's got some space to move. When one of us gets up, we stack two layers of pillows on that side. DS has fallen off the bed once (the drop is only 20 inches or so onto carpet), but we were only using a single pillow at the time and he was crawling...very purposefully, for the alarm clock.  Now we double stack, he can still crawl over it, but he make a whole lot of noise in the process :)

  • DD sleeps on my side, we have a bed rail up on that side. Works great, now I just have no room to sleep when I go to the bathroom at night!
