I would like to go running before work some mornings during the week, but am not sure if I will be messing up DS's naptime. He gets up at 5:30am and I need to leave the house by 7:30 am for work. That is 2 hours, but I am feeding, changing, sometimes bathing, and need to get ready myself. Also, I am worried that I will interfere with his nap schedule since the few mornings that I have tried running, he fell asleep in the jogging stroller and did not nap at the regular time after we returned. If you work out during the week, how do you do it?? Thanks!!
Re: When do you work out?
I have 3 choices of workout times: my first choice is lunchtime, second is right after work, and lastly after DS goes to bed.
Maybe instead of running, he could hangout in a bouncer while you do a DVD like 30 day shred. That would be better IMO.
I run Monday and Wednesday evening and Saturday mornings. Plus I try and get a good weight lifting session in one day of the week (this doesn't always happen though).
I get up Saturdays before DD is up and then Monday and Wednesdays DH get to spend 60-90 minutes with DD while I run.
Yes its time away but I am a pretty wife and mother when I have gotten a good workout in and plus I think that time is good for DD and DH to have together.
It's one my schedule every week and I try working out like any other appointment I have.
i work out during lunch. We have a two hour break. i could squeeze in a one hour work out, and since the gym is five mins away i do ok. i try to go at least three times a week.
i eat an early lunch and early PM snack at my desk
I don't work out in the morning. It's just not my thing. I work out at lunch for an hour. There is a gym in my hospital.
Or depending on the weather, I take DD for a jog in her stroller after work. If it's too hot or cold out, I go running on our treadmill at 7 p.m. after she is in bed. I manage to work out at least 5 times per week. It's a huge priority for me.
I get up at 5 because it's the only time I'm consistent about working out. But DH is home and can take care of the kids if they get up before I'm done (it's never happened--they always sleep through).
If I couldn't do that, I'd try to run during my lunch break (or work through lunch and run in the afternoon). I'm terrible about working out after work or after the kids go to bed. I'm just too tired.
I would try running with the baby and see how it goes. If it's screwing up naps, you can make a change.
