Trying to Get Pregnant

Cycle Q

Hey Ladies. Still posting on the Waiting to O board on CD 28. Most ladies who are on CD28 are far into their 2WW. My cycles have been average 36 days since going off BCP in April. Is there a chance my cycles will become shorter? I hate Oing so late! lol

TY!

Re: Cycle Q

  • Hmm, I suppose there's always a chance, but you've said they've been pretty consistently 36 days since April. How long were your cycles pre BCP?

Pre BCP- I have no idea. I never thought to pay attention.

While on BCP my cycles were crazy some 15 days some 80 days and everywhere in between.

Oh wow, you had irregular cycles on BCP - 80 days...yikes! I thought BCP regulated periods...hmmm...were you on seasonique or something where you have a period 3-4 times a year?

I'm curious about this too. I've read that your cycles are supposed to go back to the way they were before you started the pill. It's been 8 months and mine are not at all like they used to be. very frustrating.

I had the same problem on BCP. my cycles were only about 14 days on BCP. once i stopped the pill i started getting normal periods. my Dr said that the hormone in the pill can cause this in some women. your cycles may get shorter as time goes on but i dont think 36 days is too far off average.

  • Mine go back and forth.  Even cycles seem the be the longest at around 36-43 days.  The odd cycles are usually 26-30 days.  It's weird but I think I've got it figured out.  I figure this cycle (10), I probably won't O until around CD27-30.  I've been off BCP since 8/11

It's been a fairly short time since you stopped BCP.  Honestly, there's really no way to know.  Just keep tracking it and good luck!

  • The good news is that it looks like you might be ovulating today.

My cycles did get shorter after a few months off of BC.  I never had "long" cycles after BC, but they did go from 30/31 days to 27/28 days.  I actually expected to have longer cycles coming off of BC, since from what I can remember my cycles averaged 35 days before BC.

    There's still hope.  GL.

  • Right, its not just that my cycles are so long 33-38 days. it is also that I O CD-27-30. So my LP are short too. granted I only have been temping 2 cycles so I dont know that 100% but it seems to be the case. I'll keep temping/charting and see what happens. Just takes so long from cycle to cycle!

  • I have heard that your LP has to be at least 10 days long to support pregnancy (correct me if that's wrong). But if you've only been off BC two cycles, it could really just take a bit more time for your body to adjust, so try not to worry!

I'm on CD45 (my cycles avg about 40 days) but my LP is consistent at 13-15 days. I've never been on BC - my cycles have always just been longish.
