Vitamin D drops causing gas/upset stomach

My son is 6 weeks and breastfed. The doctor told me he needed to take vitamin d drops, however I noticed they cause him a lot of gas and an upset stomach. The days I gave him the drops he has gas all day and is very fussy. I havent been giving him them in the last week and his gas is minimal and is much more happier and doesn't seem to have an upset stomach.

 Does anyone else have this issue?

How important is it for him to take the drops?

 Is there a way to give them to him and reduce the stomach pain/gas?

 Any help is greatly appreciated!

What brand are you giving?

I had no issues with Carlson D Drops. Di vi sol has a lot of crap in it.

You can also choose to supplement yourself instead, but it takes a high dose (the study used 6400 IU) to be effective.

Thanks! I was using Di Vi Sol. I will try the Carlson ones. Can those be purchased at baby stores or where do you buy those?

Ditto on the Carlson... the nurse at the hospital warned me about the tri-vi-sol causing problems so we avoided them from the get-go. Never had a problem w/ the Carlson... its just one drop too which is nice!

Very interesting about the brand! I'd never heard that but will look into another brand. My little guy had bad gas especially when he was less than 8 weeks old, then it got progressively better, probably because their little bodies is more effective, but I might switch on my next bottle!
