co-sleeping, and baby wraps for standing most of the day?

My daughter and I will have our room together, and if I put her little bassinette close to my bed, is it considered co-sleeping? some places say that it's only co-sleeping with the baby in the bed, and others say it's when the baby sleeps in the same room.

also, what is a really good baby wrap for people who will have their baby with them most of the day standing up? I have one that has a ring in it, I'm not sure what it's called. Are there places I can try on different wraps/slings?

  • Technically, "cosleeping" is anywhere in the same room and "bedsharing" is the same bed. Never say never on what you'll do - bedsharing got me so much more sleep it was irresistible.

Either an actual wrap or a soft structured carrier would be good - find a baby boutique store in your city if you can. Or search "babywearing" and your city and see what comes up.

  • For the first 4-6mo I wear my babies almost non-stop (not exaggerating, I let dh hold them when he's home, and while I shower, otherwise, they're on me) and I love the Baby Ktan.  After that I switch to the Ergo.

I think co-sleeping is defined differently by different people.  For me, it's in my bed.  Side-car is next to the bed.  Room sharing is somewhere in the same room, but not right next to the bed.  We started out with #1 right next to the bed in a bassinet, but the bassinet was higher than my bed, and I wanted to touch him all the time, and my arm would fall asleep.  We started co-sleeping at 2wo and never looked back.

  • I was against attachment parenting in general when I was pregnant. Now I'm a full fledged "attacher". You will be surprised the things you may chose to do once baby arrives. Survival mode kicks in and sleep for both of us became more important. We now co-bed. I think our little guy maybe had one night on and off in a bassinet, but it just didn't work out for us.

I wear the baby most of the day as well. I use a moby wrap because it allows for me to breast feed as well. I like that I can change his position. I am also considering getting a ktan. It seems to let the air flow through easier and my little guy is a human heater.
